  3. In addition, she raises awareness of environmental issues through sales of her Luxury Eco line. Nature is Linda’s muse. It is the core of the materials she uses and the designs that she creates. From sasawashi, a linen-like fabric made from Japanese leaf rich with anti-allergen and anti-bacterial properties, to bamboo pointelle, a butter-soft, highly sustainable fabric, Linda works tirelessly to find and develop the highest quality, most ecologically sound textiles. Organic cotton, reclaimed antique lace, lenpur (wood pulp), soya and bamboo: the list is ever-growing and changing. Ler artigo...

  5. PREFAB FRIDAY: Door House by Cubo Arquitectos - Fri, 10 Nov 2006 11:00:55 +0000 Not all prefab is created equal. Some, like Rocio Romero’s LV Home, are made for middle-income, modernist loving homebuyers. Others, like Ray Kappe’s Living Home, are a super high-end version meant for the well-off client. At the other end of the spectrum, we have Cubo Arquitectos‘ prototype for emergency shelters – definitely not the most permanent home around – but by far, a true take on building “prefab.” Cubo Arquitectos‘ shelter is not just made from a kit of parts, but for the most part, a kit that is readily available from a typical building supply store. As you may have guessed, hollow core doors make up the primary building component, forming the walls, ceiling, and even rudimentary furniture. What we love about this project is that the architects have focused not only on the need to house victims of natural disaster, but harnessed a way for it to be easily achieved and reparable. 9. HOMEGROWN TABLE by Sebastian Brajkovic - Thu, 09 Nov 2006 06:21:30 +0000 We love the combination of furniture and foliage, especially when it cultivates an engagement between user and object. Our latest favorite is Sebastian Brajkovic’s HomeGrown Table, whose simple elegant form and recessed pots make it the perfect decorative and multi-functional surface. Designed during his enrollment at the prestigious Design Academy in Eindhoven, the prototype table serves as both dining surface and planter for “crops that you grown in the same place where the daily ritual of eating takes place.” The hanging light planters complete the design, providing an brilliant ensemble of beautiful objects and unique function. 10.

  14. URBAN CACTUS HIGH-RISE - Tue, 07 Nov 2006 10:23:20 +0000 Living in Texas, we’ve seen our fair share of cacti. So it goes without saying that we were intrigued to hear of the Urban Cactus, an architectural project in Rotterdam. Designed by UCX Architects, the future housing project will accommodate 98 residential units within its 19 floors. Because it sits on a harbor, the architects decided that the tower needed a natural “green” image – which has manifested itself in a stacked set of rotated, swoopy plates. The units all seem to have been given an enormous amount of exterior terrace/garden space due to the funky alternating forms. This also affords greater angles of natural sunlight to penetrate into the interior of the units themselves – something which we’re sure is greatly appreciated in the northern climate. We aren’t exactly sure why this thing has been given the moniker of “Urban Cactus”, being only somehwat spiny (and not at all prickly) but its biological undulations and draping gardens offer some refreshing curves to the all-too prevalent Dutch box.
