Dreamer Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Maserati, by Future SystemsFuture Systems - Maserati Museum (Copyright Future Systems)Maserati Quattroporte Advancement has a look. Streamlined objects, with metallic folding surfaces and enormous facades of flowing glass, celebrate the technical advancement of our society. Appearing since the first aerodynamic vehicles appeared on the road and in the sky, this architecture has been used mainly for airports, car-showrooms, science centers, and offices. After the streamlined exterior of the showroom by ONL, and the streamlined interior of the Mercedes-Benz museum (also a kind of showroom) by UN Studio that were finished last year, 2007 brings us a streamlined, yellow metallic, museum by Future Systems for the Italian brand Maserati. The retro, sixties style that we are familiar with from Future Systems looks cheap. The building is almost nothing more than a big barn, so ashamed of itself that it tries to hide into the ground. The design as such becomes a representation of the financial problems of the Maserati brand. “A vast wall of curved, inclined glass draws you into the space, the curved plane bisected by fins inspired by the radiator of a Maserati”, Future Systems say. Which model then, one wonders? Almost all of today’s Maserati’s have a honeycomb radiator grill. Well, except for the basis Quattroporte (four doors). The horizontal lines do however beautifully accent the curving façade. The roof lights remind a little to air-intakes of performance cars. On closer look however, only cars from before WWII had such air-intakes in their engine-covers… The project is added to the Architects and Representation pages. JVS Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 UK firm pulls off Italian job Future System's Maserati Museum is due for completion in 2009. The museum nestles in the grounds of the turn of the century Enzo Ferrari house in Modena, a submerged, soft blue form appearing to grow out of the surrounding landscape. The house being modest in scale has determined the height of the museum. A vast wall of curved, inclined glass draws you into the space, the curved plane bisected by fins inspired by the radiator of a Maserati. North facing roof lights flood the interior volume with diffused white light. Inside the walls and floor of the museum, rectangular in plan, forms a basin, finished in fine white terrazzo. This strong and embracing space provides the perfect environment in which to display the achievement and finesse of the Maserati collection. http-~~-//static.worldarchitecturenews.com/project/uploaded_files/818_385%20Future%20Systems%20Automotive%20Museum%20Italy.jpg in http://www.worldarchitecturenews.com/index.php?fuseaction=wanappln.projectview&upload_id=818 Quote
