Formerly the haunt of Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury group, the interior of the grade II listed terrace at 39-41 Gordon Square has been transformed by former Yaya runner-up Surface into a colourful 80-seat auditorium, seminar room, office space and a striking breakout space. Ian Christie, professor of film studies at Birkbeck, called the project “exciting”, adding: “The tilted picture window creates a spectacular visual effect. The whole auditorium is built, as it should be, backwards from the screen. It’s the absolute opposite of a lecture theatre.” The auditorium now lies at the heart of the building with the picture window — designed with a cinema screen ratio — overlooking Gordon Square. Surface was formed in 1996 by Richard Scott and Andy MacFee. Fonte: Bdonline Quote
Quote
