    Housing on the Edge

Deixem uns comentarios! Obrigado Texto do projecto: HOUSING ON THE EDGE The project is located along Border st., East Boston. The site’s history reveals that it used to be the location of a large shipyard. In earlier years wood clipper ships were build here and then substituted by steel haul ships. East Boston depended largely on its maritime industry, its residents worked in many of the shipyards located along its water front or in industries that supported the ship construction. Today the industry has died out and the city began to lose its connection to the harbor. The site itself is abandoned and only the remains of its past inhabit it. The presence of the old wooden piers and the rails that used to lead into the dry docks are the only connections to the site’s history. This project is based on the idea of these loss connections. How to create new connections to bring East Boston’s residents back to the waterfront while maintaining the connections to the past? This became the main problem the project attempts to solve. The given program was maintained with the introduction of a ferry terminal. This seemed appropriate to reestablish the maritime activity the site once had. All of the commercial portion of the program was located on the first two levels of the building in order to create more public areas for the use of the city’s residents. The residential units, more private, form the residential tower, the vertical element of the project which establishes a dialogue with the horizontal element that contains the commercial area. On the site edge were built new piers for access to the ferries and for leisure of the inhabitants. At the end of the site a steel landscape structure evokes the old wooden piers which eventually will disappear due to the action of the water, but whose memory will be preserved in this steel structure transforming it into a memorial of the sites history. This project began to be formed by the reactions to its context, by its response to the site history but also projects these aspects into the future, and by doing so preserves them as a implicit memory of the place. The final product is a modern structure whose foundations are set deep into the site reestablishing lost connection and creating new ones into the future.

    Skase Teacup

Skase Teacup, Uma das melhores peças do Steve Watson. Simples, limpa. Steve Watson

No site, disponibilizam as informações todas, montagem e utilização!
