The 270,000 sq m mixed-use project, which also involves YAYA-winner Lynch Architects, Wilkinson Eyre, Allies & Morrison and Benson & Forsyth, hit the headlines earlier this year when two KPF towers within the project were reduced in height from around 160m to a maximum of 134m because of their likely impact on the neighbouring world heritage site the Palace of Westminster (News April 20). The development involves retail, leisure, homes, offices and public space, plus the revamp of Victoria tube station and managing director of Land Securities’ London portfolio, Mike Hussey, said the latest news was a “significant step” towards realising the project. “Victoria Street will be the centre of a reinvigorated part of the West End rather than a conduit to other areas,” he added. “This project will be an exemplar of how London’s revival as a global city can continue through renewal of key central areas.” Westminster council will now consult further on the proposals before making a final decision in the new year. A forthcoming public exhibition on the plans will be held at the SW1 Gallery, Cardinal Place, 12 Cardinal Walk, London SW1 from September 19-22.Fonte: bdonline Quote
