Zaha Hadid Architects has won outline planning approval for its debut city academy project in Lambeth.

The 11,000sq m development, proposed on a 1.4ha site, will accommodate 1,200 pupils when it opens in September 2009.

The ground floor of the four-storey building is designed like a podium and will contain facilities including a fitness suite and art rooms which will be used by students and the public.
