MKPL Architects' Botannia accommodates the requirements of a large scale condominium without imposing a mega-structure

With a growing population of 4.9 million on just 710 sq km, MKPL believe Singapore may be becoming too dense and urbanised. Botannia was a response to this idea and instead of building a conventionally large urban condominium tower Botannia opts for living in a park-like surrounding where residents are not distanced from the landscape.
The client’s brief required 493 apartments. The slab-cluster shifts and rotates subtly so each unit can face strategic views of the open fields and reservoir, while maintaining a generous distance from the neighbouring buildings whilst at the centre, a large park-like landscape inconspicuously roofs the parking below.
Upon entering, there is texture, rhythm, and reflections capturing a living landscape, offering juxtaposition to Singapore’s dense masterplan.
