OMA to bring Hexagon housing to Singapore

7 September, 2009

By Ruth Bloomfield

OMA has unveiled its latest project – a complex of interconnected apartment blocks in Singapore, stacked in hexagon shapes.

The project has been designed for an 8ha site, and will provide more than 1,000 homes.

It has been designed by OMA partner Ole Scheeren, who says he wanted to break away from Singapore’s standard typology of isolated, vertical apartment towers.
His design involves 31 apartment blocks, each six-stories tall and identical in length, placed to form eight large-scale open and permeable courtyards.
